What Is Fitness For Functional Health?

I want you to be able to do whatever YOU want to do in your life with ease: hike, run, ride, swim, move! From a physical perspective, Functional Health is about optimizing your ability to do the activities that you need to do and want to do, without being limited by pain or injury. Whether that’s keeping up your weekly trail hike or bike ride, playing with your grand kids, training for an event, or simply unloading your groceries, the goal of Functional Health is to improve your capacity to perform your life.

Not everyone needs the flexibility of a gymnast, the endurance of a pro cyclist or the strength of a bodybuilder. You determine what level of Functional Health you need to improve your performance of your life.

Anything that impairs your ability to function normally compromises your Functional Health, so I focus on safe progressions from simple stability exercises to compound strength movements that integrate the upper and lower body as well as multiple joints and muscles all at once. Building your fitness and strength in this way:

  • TEACHES YOUR BODY TO WORK AS ONE INTEGRATED UNIT
  • BURNS MORE CALORIES PER EXERCISE
  • WORKS MORE MUSCLES
  • TAKES LESS TIME
  • ENHANCES OVERALL MIND-BODY AWARENESS
  • STIMULATES THE BRAIN MORE
  • IS MORE FUN AND CHALLENGING

In our sessions, expect to use any of the following toys: Schwinn Airdyne bike, BOSU, stability balls, foam rollers, blocks, cords, bands, balls, free weights, TRX, steps, lunges, jumping, etc. Of course, I will cater it completely to YOUR functional health goals, but we have plenty of tools to keep it interesting during each workout.
